I am Blind Io.

Neil Gaiman has produced some of the best literature I’ve read. I’m an avid reader of his blog, and as of today, obviously because I’m using Firefox today, am now following him on twitter.

One of his great novels is ‘Stardust’. Two worlds intertwined where a young lad ventures into weird lands and meets up with a star that has fallen and is, specially if you take into account the movie version, very clairedanesianly gorgeous in every way.

So, in essence, it’s a story about a boy and a girl. And that girl is a star. Like, cosmic material. Not paparazzi material.

How absolutely amazing that NASA has found a building block of life, the aminoacid glycine, in a comet? Want to know how fricking amazing the discovery became to someone like me? The spacecraft’s name is ‘Stardust’.

Gaiman has recently won a Hugo for his brilliant The Graveyard Book. It’s now time for the much-coveted Nobel Prize.

Ever since the beginning of this whole twittering saga we are all so dearly trying to accomplish, I have found myself deeply regretting this life I have chosen for myself.

For you find yourself in need of saying the shittiest things to all those who follow you. As a means to provoke your popularity in ways not normally found. I think that’s the ticket for twitter.

The little bird freaks me out now.

Sometimes I want to say something worthwhile. The time never comes. So I say anything that’s happening at the moment I twit. Fucking stupid twits, they are. How can they not be?

I’m actually glad Safari is so much better to use and navigate than Firefox is – on my MacBook, at least. For I have the devilish Twitterfox. And that has kept me away from all social media for weeks.

Finding out that Safari is so much faster is a great thing. I can now rid myself of that godforsaken little ‘t’ at the bottom of the window. The place where the pointer found an irresistible urge to click and, thus!, make me want to twit.

Fucking twits. Die. Until tomorrow, when I find the urge to tell everyone my latest Fettucini Alfredo was the best I’ve ever made.

Bangkok is a mess! People everywhere, in every possible direction, yet your cabbie steers all away at 70mph. When I was in the tour van with my parents, only my father spoke to the lady who was directing us. We, my brother and mother, kept speaking to eachother in portuguese. She thought my mother couldn’t speak english.

Thus ensued a hilarious occasion. Whilst driving from one temple to another (there are seventeen MILLION temples… visit them all… they’re fupping great), on our way back to the hotel, she asked my father if, after dropping us off, he’d care for some entertainment. Handed him her card and said ‘we’re very discrete, just tell your wife you want to walk around to buy her a present from the market but doesn’t want her to come with because it’s a surprise. It’s very near the hotel. Only a couple minute’s walk. Just look for this sign (pointed to the card) and ask for (some name I can’t remember)’.

My mom, distracted as she is, didn’t even pick up what the lady was saying – the fact that she speaks louder than a hyena screams is also a major factor in not listening to those around her. My brother and I looked at each other and saw my father’s face (he’s of moorish-portuguese decendancy… meaning a little arab… meaning slightly suntanned coloured skin…) turn maroon red from the embarrassment, kind of looking across the van to my mother without being disrespectful to the tour lady. He accepted the card and had a nervous smile as an answer to her offer. As we got off the van, dad handed my mother the card, asked her to come with, and we all laughed our arses off in the lobby. She wanted to kill the little lady.

Me and my brother spent three days asking for that card. We never got it.

Ah, that sweet kiss of death with time running out to give us the win over the Raiders. So bloody sweet. What a comeback.

It comes as a surprise to a lot of people here in Brazil why on the gods’ green Earth do I cheer to badly for a Buffalo NFL team? It’s kinda simple, really. It all goes back to the first time I set foot on american soil.

The year was 1992. I was returning from a trip to England where my cousins lived and I was to follow (but didn’t know it yet) and set away towards the mecca of all kids: DisneyWorld. In what would become years of frustration and disappointment, 1992 marked the Buffalo Bills second consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Me and my brother were at a Pro Bowl shop in Orlando and we came across the current merchandise for the big match. For some odd reason, we both decided one would choose a team and the other would pay a prize if his team lost.

I chose the Bills because of the buffalo and my brother was ok with the weird indian. As it turns out, obviously, I lost and can’t remember for the life of me what I had to pay for the loss, but I later found out that I really enjoyed american football. And the Bills had a bloody fantastic, but amazingly unlucky, couple of years. From then on I couldn’t pry me eyes from the team with the stylish buffalo on the helmet.

We’re finally, after so many disappointing years, making our way towards a better season. It’s all working out. The QB is reliable, and the offense is making amends for the last couple of years of pure boredom and utter gut-wrenching irritation.

Sunday’s game proved to me that we’re now able to seek a decent play-off position and, blimey!, maybe even begin to hope for a new four-year run. This time with a least one frigging happy ending!

Rian Lindell kicked a 38-yard field goal as time expired. Trent Edwards is leading the Bills like no QB’s done in a very, very long time. What a comeback.

I can dream big now. C’mon, you Bills!
